We performed analysis of physical fitness parameters in 1st year university students and 11th graders majoring in Science and Arts. Examination of 11th graders and 1st year university students was performed by anthropometrical parameters (body length, body weight, chest circumference). Analysis of physical fitness parameters revealed significantly higher levels in university students in comparison with school students (P < 0.05–0.001). Having compared data of two classes we found that anthropometrical parameters of 11A class had higher values than of 11B class (P < 0.05–0.001). Values of all anthropometrical parameters were significantly higher in young men than in young women (both for school and university). Body weight values in examined male students of 11A class were “high”. Values of 11B class female students were “above average”. Chest circumference values in 11B female students were “below average” while 11A female students had “low” values. All other examined students had “average” parameter values. Analysis of physical fitness parameters revealed that 1st year university students had less deviations from normal physical fitness than 11A and 11B students.
Analysis of physical fitness parameters shows that values for all examined groups are within reference limits for age of 17–18. However at comparison of results 1st year university students have less deviations from normal physical fitness than 11A and 11B students that may be due to the fact that body development is more harmonious in adults. Moreover, at entering new social group students have higher motivation that also leads to more responsible attitude to studies.
